TORONTO
For decades,Toronto was not one of the most popular Canadian cities it was thought of as uptight, proper, and unfashionable. However times have changed and Toronto is now perceived as a clean, safe, cosmopolitan city with pizzazz.

Toronto thrives on ethnic diversity. Nearly two-thirds of the 3.2 million people
who now live in the metropolitan area were born and raised somewhere else. A half-million Italians live here, as do the largest Chinese community in Canada and the biggest Portuguese colony in North America. Today this cosmopolitan city established by Scots on the shores of Lake Ontario is clearly Canada's centre of culture, commerce, and communications Nowhere do you get a better sense of Toronto's cultural ascendancy than on a stroll through the fabulous Harbourfront complex, constantly buzzing with concerts, dances, art shows, and festivals.

Climate

The climate ranges from humid continental in the south to subarctic in the north. Temperatures are given officially in degrees Celsius with the Fahrenheit equivalent often added. For an exact conversion of Fahrenheit to Celsius: subtract 32 from number of degrees F, then multiply by 5/9. Conversely, multiply degrees Celsius by 9/5, then add 32 to get degrees Fahrenheit.
